What is the Success Mentor Program (SMP)?

Started in 2007, the Success Mentor Program works to empower UC Merced students to develop strategies and skills that will advance academic, intrapersonal, and interpersonal development through one-on-one mentoring.

Program Qualifications

Who is eligible to apply:

  • Incoming first-year students
  • Continuing UC Merced students (any year status)
  • Transfer students

Who is NOT eligible to apply:

  • Students who are a part of the Fiat Lux Scholars Program

Program Benefits

One-on-one Mentoring

  • Connect confidentially with an SMP Peer Mentor to support you as you navigate your own unique college experiences and challenges.
  • Gain knowledge and insight from their own experiences!

Collaborative Social Events

  • Connect with other mentees and mentors in the Success Mentor Program, as well as with other Bright Success Center students and staff.
  • Build a sense of belonging and community.

Student Centered Workshops

  • Develop academic and personal skills through workshop sessions, often created by or facilitated by SMP Mentors!
